How To Prepare For Your Lomi Lomi Massage
There’s really nothing mysterious about getting ready for your massage. Here are a few suggestions for preparing your space and yourself to optimize the benefits of our session.
- Choose a room in your house or apartment that is private and quiet. Just before our session, put your home phone and cell phone on mute. Make sure that loved ones understand that you should not be disturbed during your massage. Adjust the temperature of the room so that you’ll be comfortable on the table.
- Take a relaxing shower (but you already thought of that, didn’t you!). After your shower, put on something comfortable and loose that you can easily get out of and back into.
- An hour or so before your massage, have something light to eat. Your Lomi Lomi massage will last at least two hours, so you’ll want to have something on your stomach, but not have a full stomach. And remember to use the restroom so that you won’t have to leave the table later.
- If you’re accustomed to meditation, meditate for a few minutes before I arrive. If you aren’t a meditator, just sit quietly in a chair, close your eyes and try to replace negative or worrying thoughts with calm, pleasant thoughts. Huna philosophy says “The world is what you think it is,” so holding onto negative thoughts and beliefs turns your world into a “heartless” place. Negativity depresses body functions, creates energy blockages, and drags down the spirit.
- Ask yourself, “What do I want from this experience?” but keep an open mind and heart!
